Dr. Qudrattullah Omerkhel is a dedicated academic and researcher in computer science, specializing in software engineering and agile software development. He earned his Bachelor's (2009-2012) and Master’s (2012-2014) degrees in Computer Science from the University of Mysore, India.
Dr. Omerkhel began his academic career as a lecturer in private universities in Kabul, Afghanistan, where he contributed to computer science field. In January 2015, he was appointed Dean of the Computer Science Faculty at a private university, a role he held until August 2016.
In 2017, he joined Kabul Education University as a lecturer in the Computer Science Faculty. From early 2018 to August 2019, he was an active member of the E-Learning Commission, contributing to the development and implementation of digital education strategies in Afghanistan. Additionally, he played a key role in shaping national IT policies by leading the IT in Education Committee at the National IT Conference in both 2019 and 2020.
His passion for research and academic excellence led him to pursue a Ph.D. in Software Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) from September 2019 to July 2024. His doctoral research focused on "A Guideline to Improve User Involvement During Requirements Elicitation in Agile Software Development."
Dr. Omerkhel currently serves as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at Kabul Education University, a position he has held since December 18, 2024. In this leadership role, he is committed to advancing higher education, fostering academic research, and strengthening the university’s academic programs.
His research interests include Agile Software Development, Requirement Engineering, User Involvement in Software Engineering.
